As October is winding down, I am still going headstrong with Down syndrome awareness and acceptance month! Thank you to everyone for your love and support with the first video I released last week. I love reading comments and seeing people share the videos and posts. When you have a child with special needs, there is a looming thought in the back of your head….will the world accept and love my child? Or will they only see differences? Knowing that there are so many lovely people out there in the world that want to support not only our baby Huddy but all of his rockin’ friends – well that brings…

Hudson’s First Birthday
He’s one year old! I’m sure every new parent feels this way at his or her child’s birthday – but I don’t know where this year went. I remember those few moments before he was born and knew life was about to change; it’s similar to the same way I felt when Tyler & Emily walked into my apartment so I could meet them for the first time. The pitter patter of my heart was quick but so full of excitement, love, and joy! When deciding how to celebrate, I knew I wanted something intimate. There was a day back in February where I thought I might want to plan…

July 4th – 2018
Happy July! I cannot believe we are over halfway through with 2018. Even crazier (well at least for me), I left my job more than 6 months ago. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how life would feel without a corporate gig – but looking back at all the blessings (and adventures) over this year, I am so grateful I took this leap. Thank you to you all for following along and supporting me through this journey! How did you celebrate the Fourth of July this year? I have always loved the Fourth of July – the colors, the sense of unity we have as a country, fireworks sparkling in the sky,…

Spring Break – Newport Beach, CA
Spring break has come and gone! It’s a line in the sand for those of us in Chicago – the worst of winter is behind, but we still come home to chilly weather. Maybe 4 weeks left…maybe 6….but usually no more than 8 weeks left. The weather in Chicago is weird. I’ve been here almost 7 years and I’m still not used to it. Somehow I’m shocked when I keep my heavy coat out until May 15th. I wonder if I’ll ever get used to it…as I’m writing right now, it is raining outside and a brisk 37 degrees with a 50% chance of snow in 6 hours. So let’s…

Guest Post – The H is For
Happy Thursday Moonbeams community! We have just returned from Spring Break in Newport Beach with Grandma & Grandpa and are getting back into the groove and routine of our home life; post to come next week with deets from our trip! The kiddos come back tonight from a cruise with their mom and the other side of their family. Soon we will all be reunited and I cannot wait to celebrate Easter all together this Sunday. I have yet to share my guest blog post on The H is For – although some of you have read it on Facebook. So here it is…follow this link to read! Backstory – I have…

Hudson – 10 Month Update
Hudson is already 10 months old! For so many reasons, I wish I would’ve taken the “jump” on this blog when Hudson was younger. While many of you follow via Instagram and Facebook, having a blog fills in the color around our lives! Since I’m not doing a baby book (because I could barely keep up with my pregnancy book), I’m hopeful this blog will serve as a type of ‘baby book’. But since I launched in February when Hudson was 9 months, I will not have captured the previous 9 months in the way that I hope to share the rest! WHOOSH (yes that’s the sound of time passing…

Wordless Wednesday
Okay so not completely wordless….but I’ll keep it brief because that’s the whole point of this type of post. Ask anyone who knows me – brevity is not my strong suit! I’m feeling quite nostalgic today – plus I’m writing Hudson’s birth story for a future post. So I am one sappy mommy who wants to share the moment when her family of 4 became 5 🙂 More posts coming up soon – thanks for following along! Happy Wednesday friends.

last week: stones, sullivans, stroller barre
Last week …. oooof. It was one of those weeks where I wish I had those Men In Black memory eraser pens. 2 Saturday nights ago, David and I were watching Tyler and Emily play soccer in their indoor co-ed league. Side note – It is so much fun to watch these games – not only do we get to see the kiddos playing their favorite sport together, but indoor soccer is another level of intensity and strategy that you don’t get with outdoor field soccer. Anyway – as we are watching Tyler crush it and Emily play against boys that are 3x her size, David had a huge sharp pain in his left lower…

Type A – More Like Type A-fraid
I used to have a blog…8+ years ago and my oh my how the blogging game has changed! I giggle looking at my college study abroad blog. Think – flowers, quotes, colored fonts, and first world millennial problems so dramatic you’ll laugh. But like I said – 8 years ago. That’s the same amount of time from your freshman year of high school to your last day of college! A lot happened in those 8 years and I’m catching up. I’m afraid to launch this blog. I’m also a perfectionist – which most tout as their “biggest weakness” in a standard interview. But it really is a negative trait!! I’m…
