As October is winding down, I am still going headstrong with Down syndrome awareness and acceptance month! Thank you to everyone for your love and support with the first video I released last week. I love reading comments and seeing people share the videos and posts. When you have a child with special needs, there is a looming thought in the back of your head….will the world accept and love my child? Or will they only see differences? Knowing that there are so many lovely people out there in the world that want to support not only our baby Huddy but all of his rockin’ friends – well that brings…

Down Syndrome Awareness Month
Hello hello friends! Happy Wednesday to you 🙂 We are over halfway through October which blows my mind. But I can tell as the leaves are starting to fall off the trees and the wind has turned bitter cold up here in Chicago. The other great part about October … it is also Down Syndrome Awareness Month! When thinking about this month, I came up with two separate campaigns I wanted to run from the blog, Facebook and Instagram to spread awareness and encourage acceptance. First Campaign I reached out to several Instagram accounts I follow that have and/or feature someone with Down syndrome and asked if I could have…

How to Vacation in Tennessee
Hello lovelies! Even though we’ve been home from our Tennesse vacation for 6 weeks, I wanted to share about our adventure and relive some of my favorite summer memories with you! There are several reasons why I love Tennesse. 1. The first and most important reason is that’s where my in-laws live. Therefore, it shoots up to the top! Enough said. 2. I’ve always found it gorgeous. There was a long time ago, when I was a teenager, that my family took a road trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. And we drove. Meaning I drove. I’m pretty sure I was barely 16 (back me up Sarah Bacon….); and we…

Hudson’s First Birthday
He’s one year old! I’m sure every new parent feels this way at his or her child’s birthday – but I don’t know where this year went. I remember those few moments before he was born and knew life was about to change; it’s similar to the same way I felt when Tyler & Emily walked into my apartment so I could meet them for the first time. The pitter patter of my heart was quick but so full of excitement, love, and joy! When deciding how to celebrate, I knew I wanted something intimate. There was a day back in February where I thought I might want to plan…

Five Friday Favs #4
Happy Last Friday of July! Wait whattttt!!! We have had such a whirlwind summer that it is just blowing past us. There are a few things left on my summer ‘bucket list’ like a trip to Brookfield Zoo, camping (if we can), visiting family in Tennessee, and Six Flags. But even if those all don’t get checked off the list, holy cow, we’ve packed a ton into this summer! It’s been a while since my last FFF post! If you want random updates of things I’m enjoying, please check out my Instagram stories. But I think it’s helpful to have a ‘go to’ place on the blog to list a…

July 4th – 2018
Happy July! I cannot believe we are over halfway through with 2018. Even crazier (well at least for me), I left my job more than 6 months ago. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how life would feel without a corporate gig – but looking back at all the blessings (and adventures) over this year, I am so grateful I took this leap. Thank you to you all for following along and supporting me through this journey! How did you celebrate the Fourth of July this year? I have always loved the Fourth of July – the colors, the sense of unity we have as a country, fireworks sparkling in the sky,…

Dear 2008 Hollyce
Dear 20 Year Old Hollyce, Oh little Hollyce – you are so young but have such an adventure ahead of you! You just turned 20 (2008) and are 1 year out of high school. You are wrapping up your freshman year of college at Baylor University in Waco, TX. You aren’t sure what the future holds or what lessons are ahead of you – so let me give you some of the highlights of your next 10 years. You aren’t going back to Baylor this fall. God is calling you to be closer to home for reasons you can’t know yet – but I’m telling you to trust His plan.…

Gigi’s Playhouse LMNOP & New Goal
Hello my moonbeams 🙂 I know you haven’t heard from me in awhile. Life with a toddler (yes I can actually say that now), 1 preteen, 1 teenager, 2 goofy dogs and a traveling husband has been hectic! With summer around the corner, we will have even more happening…which brings me to my main point….I’m going to be more intentional with blogging. I work 2 part-time jobs and while I prioritize those plus taking care of the fam, blogging gets pushed to the bottom! I am turning 30 years old in a few short weeks. I want to be more intentional with my goals, dreams, and hopes out of this…

Spring Break – Newport Beach, CA
Spring break has come and gone! It’s a line in the sand for those of us in Chicago – the worst of winter is behind, but we still come home to chilly weather. Maybe 4 weeks left…maybe 6….but usually no more than 8 weeks left. The weather in Chicago is weird. I’ve been here almost 7 years and I’m still not used to it. Somehow I’m shocked when I keep my heavy coat out until May 15th. I wonder if I’ll ever get used to it…as I’m writing right now, it is raining outside and a brisk 37 degrees with a 50% chance of snow in 6 hours. So let’s…
