Happy Friday friends!
I was tagged in a post on Instagram to share 21 facts about myself. Being the wordy, chatty gal that I am, I couldn’t squeeze all 21 into the 2,200 character limit that Instagram gives the world. I shared 13 there…but all 21 here!
It was weird thinking of things about myself since so much of what I write it about my children, family, and more ‘tip and trick’ based. This was a great exercise in remembering WHO I AM and where I have been…and how do I want the world to see me? Not just as a mama, not just as Holding Moonbeams…but as Hollyce.
Okay here we go……
(1) NAME: My given name is actually Hollyce and no it’s not a family name! My nickname is Bopeep – given to me by my mother 🙂
(2) SINGING CAREER: I wanted to be a singer when I was child and enrolled in singing classes. My performance piece was to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
(3) OTHER CAREER OPTIONS: Other desired occupations as a child: a belly dancer or marine biologist.
(4) EYEBROWS: I once shaved off my eyebrows because I thought that would be easier than tweezing. I was in 5th grade.
(5) PIERCING: I pierced my belly button when I turned 18, wore it for 1 year, and never looked back.
(6) VISION: I didn’t get glasses until I was in 8th grade and I remember seeing the snowflakes for the first time and tearing up at the detail.
(7) CHILDHOOD SUMMERS: I went to Kanakuk Kamps for 8 summers of my life. Usually 2nd term at K2 for a month. Those were the best summers growing up!
(8) DOG: I bought a dog my freshman year of college and smuggled him into the dorm. Yes – it was Louie.
(9) PASTRY: Once I graduated college, I attended French Pastry School and worked toward my dream of opening a bakery (I’d still love to one day).
(10) ACTUAL CAREER: When I got carpal tunnel surgery at 24, I applied to a recruiting firm for a temp job. They hired me on as a recruiter, which was the career I had until I started staying home 2.5 years ago.
(11) HOW I MET MY HUBBY: Thank goodness I took that job as a recruiter because David started at that company 8 months later, and that’s how we met 🙂
(12) WEDDING: We got married at Disney World – mostly because the service was awesome and the kids had never been to WDW prior to our nuptials. It was so magical and I’d do it all over again.
(13) SPECIAL NEEDS: I use to tell my mom as a teenager that I thought I might have a child with special needs one day. Little did I know, God knew that WAY before Hudson was born and had always put that on my heart.
(14) SPORTS: I grew up playing tennis but switched over to cheerleading for high school and LOVED it.
(15) EDUCATION: I went to Baylor University for my freshman year of college but transferred after 1 year. That same year I started at Mizzou and graduated from there. My mom, stepdad and one of my brothers also went to Mizzou. Go Tigers!
(16) SCHOOL: I didn’t LOVE school or consider myself much of an academic growing up…but gimme a school project, and I am ALL IN.
(17) ALTER EGO: her name is Lacey and she lives in Texas, wears slips and pearls and heels every single day and has the most beautiful southern drawl when she discusses life over a sweet tea.
(18) HAND WRITING: my mom told me just today that I was ambidextrous until a teacher ‘corrected’ me when I was younger. Not cool!
(19) AIRPLANE: I flew on my first airplane solo when I was 10. 4 years later, I flew across the pond by myself on a transatlantic flight. Talk about feeling like a bad @$$ at the time.
(20) DOUBLE PIERCING: I only have one ear double pierced because my 4th grade teacher (Mrs. McGuire who I looked up to SO MUCH) had only one of her ears doubled pierced. To this day, only my right ears has two piercings. My left has one.
(21) WARNING LABEL: I’d take the lyrics from Brad Paisley and it would say “sunshine mixed with a little bit of hurricane.” I feel my feelings in a BIG WAY.
