Five Friday Favorites #3

Happy Friday!

The weekend is almost here and Easter is this weekend. Anyone else excited for Peter Cottontail to make his way to your house?

We don’t have a ton of plans this weekend. It’s been 10 days since we’ve seen the kids as the dates for our 2 spring breaks were different, so I imagine we will have lots of cuddling and catch up time. The weather is a bit chilly, T&E have outgrown Easter egg hunts and Hudson is too little – so we may stay in and save the local egg hunt for next year! I’ve been dying to watch Wonder and Coco; I’d like a movie night this weekend.

On Sunday, we will go to church and brunch at White Deer Run (David’s home golf course & club). Anyway, now that we are back from vacation, I am getting back into the swing of things and wanted to start the weekend off on a great note – sharing 5 of my favorite things with you all.

1. Run Club with FIT4MOM

I used to enjoy running but stopped a few years ago for whatever reason. After Hudson was born last year, our family participated in 3 different 5K/8Ks that supported Down syndrome. It seemed like a great opportunity to get back into something I used to love. My local FIT4MOM chapter has a spring Run Club. It is a group of moms who meet up one morning a week (with or without kiddos) and enjoy a group run together. Then we are given 3+ runs to complete outside of our weekly group run to help us train for a group 5K in May. Despite the cold weather, it’s been great to wake up early on Sunday mornings and start my day off with some mama fellowship and feeling the cold, crisp air fill my lungs. While we were gone last week, I was still able to complete my runs and won’t be behind just because of vacation. Check the corporate FIT4MOM site to find your local chapter!

2. Brookside Acai Berries

It wouldn’t be a FFF post by Hollyce if it didn’t include at least one thing about food 🙂 These things are addicting guys. Rumor has it you can grab these at Costco – I buy ours at the local supermarket but you can get them on Amazon too. They have a delicious tart taste of the acai berries but are then coated with a smooth and rich dark chocolate. If they are in the pantry, they are gone in a few days. A delicious vice that I just had to share!

3. Queer Eye

There is a re-launched version on Netflix and it is EVERYTHING. Not only is it fun to see QE appeal to a new generation, the show is pure entertainment. Everyone enjoys a good makeover, but the heart and love that these guys pour into each client is heartwarming. Their hearts are pure gold and they ooze acceptance and love. Our favorite is Jonathan Van Ness (oversees grooming) – he has the best lines, best head of hair, and best catwalk I have ever seen.

4. John’s Crazy Socks

As many of you know, last Wednesday was World Down Syndrome Day (3/21 – for Trisomy 21 – 3 copies of the 21st chromosome). Our family embraced this day with many others globally by wearing crazy socks. Even better, we purchased our socks from John’s Crazy Socks. John’s business mission is to spread happiness through socks. John also has Down syndrome; his passion for fun and loud socks turned into a business that he runs with his dad. Picking our socks was hard (there are so many great options) but ordering them was EASY. Even better, they arrived earlier than expected and had a handwritten note from John and a pack of M&Ms in the package. I love supporting businesses run by entrepreneurs who have Down syndrome! Check out his website here and buy a pair of socks! Click here to watch our sock round up!

5. Emily’s Easter Dress

While in Newport Beach, David, Hudson, my mom and I went to walk around Fashion Island, which is a really fabulous outdoor mall. We popped into this adorable children’s boutique called Peek. I had never heard of it – apparently, they used to have 3 locations in Chicago but all have closed! They had clothes for boys and girls infant to size 12. We got a few things for Hudson that were super cute, Tyler is too big to fit in their clothes (sob), but Emily’s Easter dress is my favorite. It’s lightweight, has neon colors and adorable tassels. Why isn’t this in my size?!

What are you up to this weekend? Have you seen/used/heard of any of my Friday Favorites? I’d love to hear about it in the comments or on social media. Happy Easter!
