Type A – More Like Type A-fraid

I used to have a blog…8+ years ago and my oh my how the blogging game has changed! I giggle looking at my college study abroad blog. Think – flowers, quotes, colored fonts, and first world millennial problems so dramatic you’ll laugh.

But like I said – 8 years ago. That’s the same amount of time from your freshman year of high school to your last day of college! A lot happened in those 8 years and I’m catching up.

I’m afraid to launch this blog. I’m also a perfectionist – which most tout as their “biggest weakness” in a standard interview. But it really is a negative trait!! I’m a believer in Christ – so if I inherently know that I’m not perfect, why do I even try to attain it? Makes me no sense. But about that Type A tendency – I am so worried about this blog being “perfect” that I’ve pushed it off and off and off…until I put a blogging ring on it (cue the music by Queen Bey) by setting a date – February 15, 2018 – TODAY!

This blog, much like life (see how I did that there), is a learning process – and what’s wrong with that? I’m researching the plug-ins, email marketing, editing pictures, social media strategy, planning out content, etc. Nobody said I needed to be an expert at this day one – so I’m going to take a deep breath, say a little prayer, and hit “publish.” The end of the world won’t happen. People may or may not judge – shoot, people may not even read this!! But I’m doing it. This is it.

Time to be brave and make some changes.

Hopefully, I haven’t scared you away and that you’ll continue to follow for new ramblings and updates of our beautiful, sticky, chaotic but oh-so-fun lives. But I wanted to document this – the fear and overcoming it – all by clicking an ugly orange/yellow “publish” button right after this 🙂 – seriously, what’s with the button color WordPress? I’m sure the expert bloggers are shaking their heads thinking “Oh Hollyce, if you only realized you could change the color in settings…” – now I do need to go Google!
